Avatar Inspired Nail Tutorial

I loved the movie Avatar and thus decided to create my own Avatar inspired nail tutorial. It took much experimenting for me to create this final look, enjoy ;)
Get the Look
-Apply 1 Coat of Clear BaseCoat (I used Barielle Instant Liquid Nail Hardener #1050).
Let Dry 5 Minutes.
-Apply 2 Coats of Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear in "Blue Me Away!" #04.
Let each coat dry 5 Minutes Apart.
-Apply 1 thin coat of Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear in "Disco Ball" #09 (Note: shake/roll polish well as too much glitter can overpower the finished look).
Let Dry 5 Minutes.
-Using the Konad Stamp I used the zebra print on the M57 Konad Plate (I think M73 may be an even better print for this), use Sally Hansen Salon Manicure in "Thinking of Blue" #460. (Note: Avoid shaking/rolling the paint bottle before application, the stamp works better when polish is thick). The polish on your finger can later be removed with polish remover and a Q-Tip.
Let Dry 5 Minutes.
-Apply Dots (as shown in image or you can place them anywhere you like) using Sally Hansen Nail Art Pen in White (Note: Shake Pen before using), I had to go over my dots once I applied them the first time to better enhance them (Note: Don't worry if your dots look a bit caved in, this will practically fix itself in the next step).
Let Dry 5 Minutes.
-Apply 2 Coats of Clear TopCoat (I used Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat). Let the first coat dry 5 minutes before applying the 2nd coat.
Let Dry Completely, remove any polish that may have gotten on your skin and your Done.

Liquid EyeLiner Favorite

If there's one makeup item I loath applying (and seriously suck at!) on a daily basis it's liquid eyeliner! Luckily I found my new favorite (or rather ONLY favorite) and luckily cheap liner which honestly makes my regular application such a breeze.

Wet 'n' Wild MegaLiner! Yes its possibly one of the most popular drugstore makeup brands for teens but it's generally the cheapest makeup you can find in most local drugstores here. I've been known to avoid this brand aside from the occasional nail polish here and their, but I recently decided to try out their eyeliner and WOW was I surprised at how nicely (and perfect!) the application was. This also removes easily when you go to take it off. The only downfalls I found is that this liner does tend to flake just a tiny bit and some of the brushes seem to be in better quaility shape then other bottles of this.

Tip: Lightly wipe off the tip on the inside of the bottle before applying to insure you get a nice precise and thin application (this is common to do with most liquid liners I've used).

I bought this in Turquoise color (as shown in image), Plum and Black. I generally imagine turquoise as being a green/blue shade but this comes out more like a jade green or christmas green shade. It goes on thin or thick easily depending how you like it applied, it dries quick with a shiny finish, has a tiny thin brush tip (rather then sponge) which some apparently find too long (it's maybe around 1 cm).

Tip: I don't think it's too long of a brush tip but if you're one of those people that do you can always shorten it by cutting the tip slightly at an angle.

Color eyeliner is also a new makeup trend this year I've noticed, generally to be worn on the lower lashline with a bronze shadow on top. I enjoy wearing this turquoise shade on my upper lashline (cat-eye affect) with a shimmery gold eyeshadow.

IKEA Finds and Paint

After coming across The Brick House by chance online, I looked into retro/modern style lighting to find something similar to the modern funky light used here. I came across the IKEA Knappa and decided to search deeper into the hanging lamp online, low and behold I found this hack as well as this hack project. After gaining some of these great ideas I decided to purchase the Knappa ($29.99) and paired it with the IKEA Januari lamp-base ($16.99) in a brushed silver color (these two items fit perfectly together). As a side note, be sure to purchase the light bulb for the Knappa (which isn't included in the kit) and not the Januari base, due to the Knappa needing a lower watt source then the Januari.
The lovely black frame Ung Drill I found hiding in a corner of the IKEA picture frame section. I had seen similar ones at Urban Outfitters but they were a bit too small for my liking and this $24.99 one from IKEA fit the bill. The frame is made of plastic and I'm sure it'd be super easy to spray paint if you weren't crazy about the black color. Once I picked it up and placed it into my cart I had two different people ask me where I had found it ;D Even my mom was quick to fall in love with it once she saw it hanging in my room.

I really think my bedroom is starting to come together and I'm very pleased with the final paint color we created...I can give you the paint color name (Valspar in Lilac Machiato) but honestly my mom ended up having to mix it with two other paint colors (green + yellow = blue) which we luckily already had on hand so we added it in to dingy up the original purple color of Lilac Machiato I purchased. The final color dried darker then when wet and luckily it looks exactly like the color I had imagined.
