Share some Cooking

I did some cooking this past weekend and made some type of Filipino style rice stuff...just a recipe I tried to dupe from Mr. Shy's Mom...although I wish the white rice had more flavor to it than mine did this time. It consisted of raisins, tomato peel, white rice and some Mirin. Oopsie, I know what I forgot now...diced red onion & diced fried potato (no wonder it tasted plain!).My hot-dogs as a Spam type of replacement came out pretty tasty. I took a hot-dog, sliced long ways in half (but not cut all the way through), fried it on med-low flame with a pan full of Aloha brand teriyaki sauce(from World Market) and sprinkled some roasted sesame seeds on top. Yummy, but bit on the heavy side :P I guess this is my own recipe concoction...but I'm sure it's been done before as with most things.

P.S. Instead of sliced tomatoes with pepper on the side Mr. Shy's Mom had fresh apples and oranges...not that it really matters...does it? heh.

I just felt like sharing this Chick-O-Stick with you while at work today. Bought this while out in San Diego, CA at 7 11 last week. Not bad...but I'd rather have a Butterfinger :P Munch Munch

P.S. Yes that is my Megan Fox eye makeup in the photo ;D

Transformer Your Look

To celebrate the new Transformer movie I created a Megan Fox make-up look using drug-store makeup. Her eyes are done up smokey with warm neutral colors, so I picked...
Rimmel Colour Rush Trio Eyeshadow, Orion 621

*I picked these colors (use all 3 for this look) which turned out to be more neutral looking rather than warm, but once I applied it, I felt it looked really close to her color after all. Follow up with some liquid black eye liner on top (extend it past the top lid slightly for a cat-eye affect), black pencil liner on bottom, black mascara and deepen this clean well-groomed full brow color to complete (if necessary).

Her cheeks are bronze, pink, peach and just illuminating with about every cheek color imaginable, how does she do it so perfectly you ask...easy! I picked...
Physicians Formula Shimmer Strips Custom Bronzer Blush & Eye Shadow, Miami Strip/Healthy Glow Bronzer 2744
*Using your blush brush use the darker tones under the cheek bone to create structure and use the lighter tones on the apples of your cheeks to highlight.

For her lips she's usually sporting a Mauve colored pout, so I picked...
Revlon Super Lustrous - Creme Lipstick, Sassy Mauve
*I really think I found the perfect drugstore lipstick dupe here! If the color is too dark/intense for your liking, you can blot some off with a tissue, then apply a clear lip gloss on top.

I spent soo much time finding dupes for this online(drugstore.com) and then at the actual drugstore(cvs.com) but they're really great to get Megan's look here and I hope you enjoy it as much as I do. Believe it or not I've already gotten hit on several times today at work while sporting this look, LOL.

Cali Vay-K

I just arrived back home from San Diego, CA yesterday afternoon and I took literally hundreds of photos on my new cam which I'm super excited about sharing them with you, I also have a few okay photos from DC Zoo a few weeks ago. So I'll be posting a few of those pics via Flickr once my Internet at home is working again. Also while on my trip my Aunt whom was visiting from Orlando, FL also uses St. Ives scrub. According to my Mom she has been using this since she was a teenager. Unfortunately she uses St. Ives Blemish & Blackhead Control which...is about as harsh to the skin as Garniers scrub (from my previous scrub review). So I'm not recommending the use of this Blemish & Blackhead scrub either which is even brown color just like my foot scrub (LOL).

P.S. I also got complimented on all my LB clothes I posted about (seeeee...told ya I looked good in them, LOL). My Uncle said I looked very nice and ready for church in the vest top (haha) and my Grams didn't seem too crazy bout the belt it came with but she wouldn't stop staring at me (kinda creepy, hah). The red top looked nice, my Mom even tried to copy me by wearing her red shirt and my friend told me I looked too dressed up for the movie theatre one night, WTHeck. The blue top was comfy to travel in and everyone kept saying how I looked like such a happy person during my travel, hah. My Fam liked the brown top as well but it definitely needs to be laid flat to dry(or possibly ironed) after washing because the collar got all weird shaped while hang drying.

Plus Size Shopping

I bought a few tops at LB recently (as pictured above), totally spent too much but ya know...I needed some Vay-K clothes for my trip. I love the vest top as for some reason I feel like an Asian School Girl with this getup, lolz, it's a bit too pricey and perhaps a tad shorter than I'd prefer. The red top I got because they didn't have my size in the blue (which was sooo nice with my blue eyes)...I guess red will just have to suffice. The brown top is a nice shirt that looks like suede/leather in person, cute and casual. The blue top was on clearance and is pretty comfy casual. I also bought a long black open cardigan shrug which will be great for tank tops or...with almost any shirt combination to get a semi-office look or just go for a more casual day to day look. I honestly think the clothes look better on me then the models in these photos...not to brag or anything like that >.<

New Layout

I designed a quick new layout this week that has some classic girlie charm to it and I used some traditional Japanese colors in...

Ikkonzome 一斤染 (translated as "One loaf dyeing")
Gunjō-iro 群青色 (translated as "Navy blue")
Usuki 浅黄 (translated as "Pale yellow")

The flower images were edited from an Internet photo I came across, so I can't take total credit for its basic design.

Enjoy ;)

Scrub Product Review

Here's my review on 2 different facial scrubs I've been using recently.
Scrub#1 - Garnier Nutritioniste (Nutri-Pure Microbead Cream Scrub, Oil-Free)
Quantity: 5 oz
Cost $ 6.49
Animal Friendly: Unknown
Claims...
-Vitamin E + Grape Extract (anti-oxidant to help detoxify)
-Vitamin B5 (infuses skin with moisture, to prevent over drying)
-Green Leaf Extract (naturally soothes and refreshes)
-Dermatologist tested for safety
-Oil-free
-Non comedogenic - won't clog pores
-Gentle to skin
-Allergy tested
My Review...
Not sure if the product really "detoxifies" the skin. Doesn't seem to "infuse" my skin and it feels a bit on the dry side after cleansing. Didn't "soothe" my sensitive/dry skin during use of product. It's a bit strongly scented compared to the other scrub (this gives me a migraine). Doesn't feel "refreshing" in my opinion although they try to add a mint ingredient to make it feel that way which I didn't feel it or even smell it. It feels like its scratching the surface of my face rather than scrubbing, bit harsh for skin unless used as a foot scrub (in my opinion). This product goes on thick and doesn't wash off too easily (goops up around the tub). All in all I don't plan on purchasing this product again as I didn't see any major results and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone...guess price and name aren't everything (was rooting for this pricier product but FAIL).

Scrub#2 - St. Ives (Apricot Scrub, Renew & Firm)
Quantity: 6 oz
Cost $ 4.29
Animal Friendly: Yes
Claims...
-Age Defying
-Gentle Alpha Hydroxy Complex
-Moisture-rich formula reveals smooth, younger looking skin
-Tone is improved and skin feels firmer
-Mild, moisture-rich formula that helps firm and renew skin
-Gentle exfoliants clean deep and remove dull, dead skin
-Radiant, younger looking skin is revealed.
-Sun Alert, this product may make your skin more sensitive to sun
-As with any good skin care regimen, use SPF 15 sunscreen to protect your skin during the day
-Continue use of sunscreen for a week after you discontinue use
My Review...
Is product "age defying", I wouldn't say it's anything that might make you look drastically younger looking but perhaps give you a more youthful clean appearance to the skin. My cheekbone area does seem more toned and firmer after several weeks of using this product. I would say this product is "mild" because it doesn't burn or cause redness after use on my dry/sensitive skin type. It does "gently exfoliate" as it's a scrub wash and not an overly scratchy feeling to the face. The apricot scent is pleasant rather than overpowering. I do follow this product with an SPF 30 as I'm fair skinned and I feel too much use of this product can cause a bit over drying to the face as you should give you skin time to "renew" itself naturally after using this product. I would definitely recommend this product to people as it's probably gentle enough for everyone to use regularly, it's also more product for a lesser price in comparison to the Garnier scrub (this cheap product is totally WIN and I will definately be purchasing more in the future).
